注： 1850年戴克描述成 Echinocactus pottsii 在《Allgemeinen Gartenzeitung》这本书里面，韦伯在法国描述于1896年 花园词汇 里面 Echinocactus heterochromus花园词汇。实际这两种植物是相同的。
布里顿和罗斯认为此为 大统领 Thelocactus bicolor， 然后Bakeberg介绍混淆介绍 Thelocactus pottsii，作为 Echinocactus 的一个分支，布里顿玫瑰也只保留了单独的物一个种 Thelocactus heterochromus。
巴克斯鲍姆在1975年，承认 Thelocactus pottsii 指的是 Thelocactus bicolo，而由此形成了一个具有此名称的独立的物种 Thelocactus heterochromus。
